Question: What are trend studies?

Answer: Trend studies gather data that allow for examining change over time within different samples of the same population at different points in time. TIMSS includes a set of trend items that are repeated from one cycle to another which allows for linking between assessment cycles. The previous cycle (for example 2015) is then placed on the same scale of the results from the current cycle (2019).
