Reports on the state of education typically take the form of domestic and international assessments. These compare children in South Africa to each other (matric results, annual national assessments) and to children in other countries.Increasingly, reference to the quality of education appears in broader platforms to embrace the perspectives of business leaders and members of civil society. This practice is a healthy reflection of the value we place on education and its ability to shape South Africa’s future.
